About Kinship
Kinship is a health and care membership for families across borders. People in the UK set up a Kinship Plan for someone they love in Nigeria: health benefits, Care visits and a doctor on call, funded from abroad and delivered at home. Our small team works across the UK, Nigeria and Ghana, and every role helps a family stay close.
The role
You are the person a family trusts with their mother, father or loved one when they cannot be there themselves. As the named care manager for each of your members, you know them, you hold responsibility for their wellbeing, and you give the family the confidence that someone qualified and genuinely caring is watching over the person they love. You are a registered nurse, and that training is the safety layer that keeps your members safe. But first and foremost you are the human anchor of trust at the heart of Kinship. The families you look after are abroad, so warmth and clear, confident communication across distance matter as much as clinical judgement. This is a hands on, mobile role in a fast growing technology business. You are out visiting members in their homes, adapting as things change, and comfortable using our app to do it. In the early days you also carry out visits yourself and help train the first Care Workers, before shifting to leading and safeguarding their work as the team grows.
Main responsibilities
- Be the named, accountable care manager for a group of members and their families, the one person who knows them and holds their care over time
- Build real relationships and be a warm, reassuring point of contact for families abroad, giving them confidence their loved one is in good hands
- Use your clinical judgement as the safety layer: notice changes, decide what matters, and triage concerns
- Set and uphold the standard Care Workers report to, and review their reports before families see them
- Coordinate doctors, health benefits partners and hospital pathways when needed, working through the Supervising Doctor and partners rather than carrying clinical delivery yourself
- Step in personally at the moments that count: a change in health, a worry, a difficult conversation, an escalation
- In the early days, carry out home visits and help train the first Care Workers
Essential requirements
- NMCN-registered Registered Nurse with a valid, verifiable licence
- At least three years' post-registration experience
- Physically active and comfortable travelling around Lagos to visit members in their homes
- Mentally sharp and adaptable, at ease in a fast changing, fast growing environment
- A warm, confident communicator in English, comfortable supporting international families abroad
- Sound clinical judgement and an instinct for when to act or escalate
- Comfortable using an app and digital tools day to day
Nice to have
- Community or home health nursing experience
- Experience supporting older people and their families
- Experience working with clients or families based abroad
- Familiarity with Nigerian health and care pathways
